A. The Knights Of Columbus (K of C) is a fraternal organization addressed specifically for Catholic men and their families. (For more details, please see "Who We Are"). Q. How did this idea of the Knights begin anyway ? A. It started off with one of Father Michael McGivney's ideas. (For more details, please see "Who We Are".) Q. Who started this council in North Fort Myers ? A. The All Saints Council 8440 came to life when a handful of Catholic men, led by the late Dick Frisky, got together in 1983 and decided to dedicate their lives improving their local Church and community. (For more details, please see "The History"). Q. What is the most important mission of the Knights Of Columbus ? A. Making sure the Catholic Church remains vigorous and undiminished is one of the primary missions of the Knights Of Columbus. This is done, among various other programs, by bringing in more candidates to the priesthood, the diaconate and the religious life. In addition to that, the K of C also provides moral and financial support to individual seminarians and postulants pursuing religious vocations. Q. What are some of the qualifications I must have to become a Knight? A. If you're a practical Catholic man at least 18 years old, the K of C may be just what you've been searching for. You can become as involved as you wish. Just remember that the Knights offer an opportunity for fellowship with people who share the same beliefs, and who recognize the same duty to God, to family, and to folks down the block - and across the sea. Q. Why should I join the Knights Of Columbus ? A. Some of the best reasons why you should join the Knights Of Columbus are: a) to help improve your community Q. How will I benefit by joining the Knights Of Columbus ? A. The Knights Of Columbus makes available to all eligible family members the following: a) Life Insurance benefits for both healthy family members as well as for physically or mentally challenged family members. Q. What is the present financial value of the Knights Of Columbus insurance program ? A. Today, the amount of K of C insurance in force totals over $31 billion - which says a lot about how much members value it. Knights of Columbus insurance offers a complete portfolio from which to choose. The strength of the program is evidenced by the fact that the amount of money paid out to members in the form of dividends is consistently greater than the funds paid to beneficiaries of deceased members. So it's really "insurance for the family." |
