History of Council 8440
North Fort Myers

W E L C O M E

The Knights of Columbus All Saints Council # 8440 of North Fort Myers Florida began in 1983, when the late Dick Frisky, a remarkable man, gathered together a handful of Catholic men who also wanted to dedicate themselves to help improve their Church and local community. They seized the opportunity, and formed the present council we now all enjoy. Thanks to their outstanding enthusiasm, the Council soon grew to 30 members. The Council was chartered on the 4th of August, 1983.

The Grand Knight of the Charter Council was John Medeiros (August 1993 through July 1996) followed by ten other Grand Knights who also served us without reservation.

Today there are 119 members in the All Saints Council many of whom are very active and quick to lend a hand to the less fortunate.

Our members don't believe in sitting idly and just watching life pass by. They feed the hungry and help shelter the homeless. They help senior citizens remain healthy and active. They conduct blood drives and fight to protect the right to life of all individuals ... especially for the unborn. During the past decade, they have distributed food to the hungry, pointed the way to our youth and reached out to lonely people of all ages in our parish. Their "cup of tea", one could say, is to extend a hand of friendship to all their neighbors, a hand that helps build better lives for them. Not only do they reach out to their brothers and sisters with their hands, but also with   our their hearts, their skills and their time.

In order to meet their financial responsibilities, the members engage in various fund-raising activities: such as the Tootsie Roll Campaign, bazaars, raffles, and evenings at bingo. In fact, we have held weekly bingo since 1983. We recall a time when bingo was played twice per week. All revenues are used to defray our operating costs and to help people in need.

All Saints Council 8440 has come a long ways in its search for helping its neighbors. Two of its members created and designed this website for the Council's members enjoyment and to benefit others who want to know more about the Knights Of Columbus.
